Nagzira Wildlife Santuary





Nagzira Wildlife sanctuary is located in the midst of the Tirora 


ranges in the district of Bhandara.

The sanctuary covers a wide area of about 


152.810square.kilometers. 


The sanctuary comprises of various hills along with various small lakes. There are various lakes

like Nagzira Lake, Balapur Lake, Murpar Lake, Rengepar Lake, 


Chorkhamara Lake,Badbadya Lake, Lendezari Lake, Thadezari 


Lake, Bodalkasa Lake and many more. All these lakes act as a 


good source of water and also enhance the beauty of the 


ambience.



Flora:-

The sanctuary abounds in natural vegetation cover that mainly comprises of southern tropical dry 

deciduous forests. 

The presence of various water bodies in the area makes the 


place a good agricultural area.

Some of the chief species of trees found here include Dhavda, 


Tinsa, Surya, Ain, Bija, Tendu Garari, Teak, Bamboo etc.



Fauna:-

The sanctuary offer shelters to around 34 species of mammals 


that include Tigers, Panthers,Leopards, Bison's, Sloth Bears, 


Sambar, Four-Headed Antelope, Blue Bull, Chital, Barking



Deers, Mouse Deers, Civet Cats, Jackals, Jungle Cats, Spotted

Hyena, and Hare.




How To Reach:-

By Rail: -    Nearest railway station is Gondia at 45-km from the 


                      sanctuary.

By air :-      Nearest airport is Shegaon Nagpur at 122-km from the sanctuary.



By road: -   Nearest bus stand is Sakoli at 22-km on the Nagpur-Calcutta National Highway.



Location:-  The sanctuary is situated in the hills of Tirora that 


falls under the district of Bhandara in Vidarbha region.

Best Time To Visit :-  April to May
